15 Times Shah Rukh Khan Proved Why He is Called the King of Bollywood

Shah Rukh Khan has a charm of his own. Khan, who started his journey back in 1988, hails from a humble middle-class family and after having spent more than 26 years in the Hindi film industry, he has attained stardom through his determination, hard work, and talent.

Khan, who has given us memorable characters such as Ajay/Vicky in Baazigar, Sunil in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na, Raj in DDLJ, Aman in Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabir Khan in Chak De! India, and Mohan Bhargav in Swades, is extremely articulate off screen, may it be intimate interviews or hosting award functions, his witty one-liners make him stand out as one of the more intelligent artists working in the entertainment industry.

As the King of Romance turns 53 on Friday, let us relive the witty (and some serious) moments that he has blessed us with during his incredible journey

SRK can’t afford Gauri Khan on board for films

Shah Rukh Khan says that he cannot afford to get his interior decorator and producer wife Gauri Khan on board to design for films. “We make really small films. We can’t afford to get her on board for our films,” the actor said. His comments came after Gauri said, “Right now, I am very busy. My hands are full and whenever I will have time then, 100 per cent I will do it.”

The husband and wife were interacting with the media at the inauguration of Sanchos — a Mexican restaurant designed by Gauri. “I just go to whichever restaurant she opens because I get free meal, so it’s really good for me… I hope she keeps opening up new restaurants so that all of us can keep coming here to do parties,” said Shah Rukh.

Apart from designing restaurants and office spaces, Gauri has also designed the homes of Bollywood celebrities like Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Karan Johar and Jacqueline Fernandez among many others.

Karan Johar cannot wait to get married now.

Gauri doesn’t have time for Shah Rukh

It’s a known fact that Gauri Khan is an ace interior designer. Her official Instagram is filled with pictures of her beautiful designs. And in fact, many celebs have visited her store Gauri Khan Designs, pictures of which have garnered a lot of buzz on the internet. Last week, she put up a picture of a Bollywood based beauty brand store she designed. Impressed by his wife Gauri’s craft, Shah Rukh liked the picture and asked when will she design his office. He wrote, “When are you designing my office?” Gauri Khan’s hilariously amusing response proved that she is indeed Queen to King Khan.

She wrote, “As soon as I have some free time…” Well, Shah Rukh Khan may be the King of wits and humour but Gauri isn’t far behind. We wonder what Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan and Sridevi

Updated: Nov 27, 2018, 05:23 PM IST

Ever since the trailer of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero was released, fans have been eagerly waiting to see the superstar on the big screen essaying the role of a dwarf for the first time in his illustrious career. The first song from the film Mera Naam Tu has already got the fans humming its tunes and is fast catching on to the trends charts.

While the movie’s trailer and music have have successfully created a lot of buzz, not many are aware that Zero will have a host of other Bollywood stars making cameo appearances in the movie. Salman Khan, Alia Bhatt, Abhay Deol, Rani Mukerji, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Kajol and the late legendary diva Sridevi are the few known names all set to appear in the film.

According to a report in Times of India, just like Deewangi Deewangi from Om Shanti Om, Zero also features a song which will have Shah Rukh Khan shaking a leg with a number of leading ladies, one of them being Sridevi. The late actress had shot for her cameo appearance last year in October. She plays herself in the film.

The film’s leading hero, Shah Rukh Khan, is leaving no stone unturned  to give the diva a tribute in the best way possible. The song which features multiple stars along with Sridevi will not be out until the release of the film. The superstar wants fans to take a look at the late legendary diva’s last cinematic outing directly when the film releases on the big screens next month.

In February this year, Sridevi bid goodbye to the world due to accidental drowning in the bathtub of her hotel room in Dubai. Her demise had sent shockwaves in Bollywood industry and her fans across the globe.

Directed by Anand L Rai, Zero also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in leading roles. The film is slated to hit the theatres on December 21 this year.

Kangana replaces Deepika as Bollywood’s highest paid actress

Bollywood’s bold and beautiful starlet Kangana Ranaut has replaced Deepika Padukone in the Hindi film industry as the highest paid actress.

With a whopping salary of INR 14 crores Kangana has overtaken Deepika as the undisputable queen of the box office.

According to media reports, Kangana charged a hefty 14 crores for Rani Laxmibai character she was roped in for in the biopic ‘Manikarnika’.

Bollywood’s notorious gender wage gap where male protagonists get paid almost double the amount as their female counterparts was broken by Deepika Padukone when she was remunerated more than Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh for her role in ‘Padmaavat’.

Kangana amazes Hollywood stunt director

Kangana Ranaut will be seen as Manikarnika Tambe aka Rani of Jhansi in her upcoming film Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. In the recently revealed teaser of the film, Kangana looked extremely convincing while taking on the enemies, riding the horse, and attacking them with swords, guns or the bow and arrow.

In a conversation with the media, Hollywood stunt director Nick Powell was all praise for the Queen star as he revealed that Kangana insisted on doing all the action sequences by herself which left him impressed with her immense dedication. Interestingly, Powell has worked with Hollywood biggies like Gladiator fame’s Russell Crowe, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and many others.

He also told, “The idea was to show a warrior who has been learning the ropes from a young age. Kangana practised sword fighting for eight hours a day, and convincingly pulled off each stunt. I have worked with the likes of Russell Crowe, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, but she gave me the unique experience in which an actress was leading the pack. There were times when she pulled off smoother stunts than Tom Cruise.”

2.0 box office collection: Can Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar’s film take over Baahubali 2? Read expert opinion

Box-office: Can 2.0 take over Baahubali 2?

Box-office: Can 2.0 take over Baahubali 2?

The release of 2.0, the Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar-starrer sci-fi film, is just around the corner. The S Shankar directorial is the talk of the town, thanks to its terrific trailer that is laced with several VFX-heavy jaw-dropping sequences. The presence of big names like Rajinikanth and Akshay in the film is, of course, another factor which has contributed to its astounding buzz. But can this buzz translate into numbers at the box-office? Does the film have the potential to cross the lifetime collection of Baahubali 2? We spoke to film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi to find answers to these questions.

2.0 does have all the elements to surpass a Baahubali 2. But everything will eventually and essentially depend on how good the script and the overall content is. If the content clicks, it can challenge the biggest of movies in India. If it doesn’t, then it is obvious that it will come nowhere close,” Akshaye said matter-of-factly.

Citing example of the Aamir Khan-starrer Thugs of Hindostan that failed to perform at the box-office predominantly due to its weak content, Akshaye stressed that the script makes all the difference and that the same applied to 2.0. (2.0 box office collection: Can Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar’s film beat ToH to become the biggest Hindi opener?)

Thugs of Hindostan is one film that one expected to come close to the Hindi version of Baahubali 2. Had it been a well-written film, it would have possibly done it. It had the elements to be able to do that. But its the content, the script that makes the difference. If the script of 2.0 connects with people at large, it can do anything,” he said.

7 Most Hyped Bollywood Weddings Of All Time

Nobody does a wedding like Bollywood does (amen to that!). The starry guest list posing for the shutterbugs, exotic locales, stunning decor, glamourous trousseaus – Bollywood weddings are easily some of the most awaited events of the year. We bring you some of the most hyped Bollywood weddings that are talked about for years to come –

Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’souza

Riteish and Genelia’s wedding was one of the most talked about weddings, even long before the social media evolution. The son of late politician Vilasrao Deshmukh, the 5-day wedding had a collective budget of Rs. 25 crore, and saw almost every B-Town celeb and political bigwigs in attendance. Paparazzi camped outside each of their venues, and their wedding photos were elaborately splashed across almost every leading daily.

Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan

This royal Bollywood wedding was every bit glitzy and glamorous as the couple in question. The Prince of Pataudi married Bollywood’s (forever) reigning queen in a starry, royal affair with celebrities, politicians and a number of Royal Families in attendance. 5-star hotels were booked in Mumbai and Delhi where guests were put up, and then President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee graced the celebrations too!

Ayush Sharma and Arpita Khan

Salman Khan’s baby sister Arpita Khan tied the knot with longtime sweetheart Ayush Sharma, and naturally, the Khan brothers made sure they gave everyone something to talk about. The couple tied the knot at the exquisite Taj Falaknuma Palace, donning the most high-end, elaborate designer outfits, and their festivities saw celebrities, sportspersons, politicians and businessmen in attendance. The newlyweds reportedly rode a chariot escorted by 50 soldiers and a military band. The Khan siblings shook a leg and treated guests to a performance of a couple of their hit songs. But the craziest part of their wedding was the mob of fans and well-wishers going wild outside the venue to catch a glimpse of the festivities – which needed 600 bouncers to control!

Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput

#ShahidkiShaadi broke many ladies’ hearts and the internet too! Despite trying their level best to keep their wedding a private affair, they could not escape the buzz surrounding the occasion. The duo got married in a simple ceremony at a gurudwara in Delhi, followed by a lavish after-party, and a reception in Mumbai attended by some of Shahid’s B-Town buddies. The buzz around the wedding was obvious, and the curiosity around Mira Rajput only added to that buzz.

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma

When #Virushka said I Do under the Tuscan sun, it was a rather hush-hush affair until an Instagram photo of them announcing their marriage broke the internet. A million reposts, sneaky ceremony videos, and a big fat Mumbai reception easily made their wedding 2017’s B-Town wedding of the year. The couple will celebrate one year of the marriage next month.

Anand Ahuja and Sonam Kapoor

The couple that made #everydayphenomenal kept their wedding plans carefully under wraps until about a week before the wedding when they made the official announcement. But fans definitely weren’t kept in the dark about the festivities. All your favourite celebs took to Instagram to share pictures and videos of the ceremonies, and wedding guests too joined the bandwagon. Instagram was abuzz with constant updates till the wee hours, while Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor treated fans to a quick Instagram live session from the reception.

Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone

The couple has always been mum when it came to their relationship, and had been at the centre of marriage rumours for a while now (read years!). But the two put all speculation to rest when they announced their wedding on social media. However, the strict ‘no phones’ policy enforced on the guests at their lavish #DeepVeerkiShaadi at Lake Como in Italy, left fans clamouring for even a slight glimpse of their wedding. The official photos released a day after the festivities were plastered in almost every nook and cranny on Instagram. Brace yourself for some major FOMO at their much-awaited Mumbai reception sometime this week.
