Micromax set to launch notched phone, with price under Rs 15,000 it may compete with Redmi Note 6 Pro

Micromax notched phone

Micromax is launching something today. Okay, not something but a smartphone. This is going to be one of the biggest Micromax launches this year as the company is coming out with a phone after a while, particularly with a phone about which it is already talking on its social media accounts. Not much is known about the phone except that it will have a notched display and that it will be launched at an event in New Delhi today.

In the images through which Micromax has teased the phone we can see that the phone has a notch similar to what you get in the iPhone X, or the Redmi Note 6 Pro. In fact, given that this is a Micromax phone you can also expect the price of the device to be close to the Redmi Note 6 Pro, which in other words means around Rs 15,000.

Micromax has also teased that its new phone is going to offer good performance and possibly a big battery because in one of its teasers it says that if you have FOMO — millennial speak for fear of missing out — you will likely love the new Micromax phone. We don’t much about the processor inside the phone. But given the possible price point of the phone either it is going to be powered by something like Mediatek Helio P70 processor or Qualcomm Snapdragon 636. If Micromax is feeling particularly generous, we may even see the Snapdragon 660 processor inside the phone.

You can expect at least 3GB RAM and at least 32GB storage in the phone because that is standard in almost all devices under Rs 15,000.

In the partial images — or are they renders — of the phone shared by Micromax we also see there is a flash accompanying the front camera. This indicates that the phone will be a selfie focussed camera. We can even make out another camera on the front, which too hints that the new Micromax phone will focus on India’s young consumers who love to click an inordinate amount of selfies.

On the back too, the phone will feature dual-camera module. Though, the configuration of the module is unknown. We don’t if the new Micromax phone will have a 12-megapixel camera or 13-megapixel camera.

Micromax is going through a rough patch of late. There was a time, say around 2 years ago, when the company was the number one phone seller in India. But then the Chinese came. In particular, the Micromax phones faced tough competition from Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo. Currently it is Xiaomi that rules the market it is one of the Xiaomi phones that is Redmi Note 6 Pro that will be the main competitor to the new Micromax phone. We expect Micromax to launch its notched phone at 12PM today. Stay tuned for more information on.
